What Is Hypnotherapy?

The term "hypnosis" comes from the Greek word hypnos, meaning "sleep." Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness, also known as a trance. A person in a deeply focused state is unusually responsive to an idea or image. But this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person's mind and free will. On the contrary, hypnosis can actually teach people how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological responses.

Will I Be Under the Control Of The Hypnotherapist?

Absolutely not! Although your Modus7 Consulting Hypnotist will guide you into a deeply relaxed state known as meditation and give you hypnotic suggestions, they CANNOT make you do anything that you do not want to do.  While you may have seen "stage hypnotist" on television and in movies, we can assure you that when you are in the state of meditation you will always be aware, and you will NEVER do anything that is contrary to your own will.

Can I Be Hypnotized?

With the help of the Modus7 Consulting Hypnotist, virtually everyone of normal intelligence and a willingness to follow simple instructions can be hypnotized in order to improve the quality of their lives.  This includes children, teenagers, and adults of all ages.

Will Hypnosis And Hypnotherapy Succeed When Nothing Else Has Worked?

Hypnosis is one of the fastest growing fields that facilitates and promotes human change, improvement, and achievement.  As a Consulting Hypnotist, I work with people who are frustrated because nothing else has helped them reach their goals.  Many times, they have tried every other avenue that they could think of without success.  I use hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and teach self-hypnosis so that people like you will succeed in making important changes in their lives.

Did you know that many of the most successful professional athletes, Olympians, and Olympic teams use hypnosis to help improve their performance, and many entertainers have used hypnotherapy to move beyond stage fright?  Now you can use hypnosis too.  Whether you are trying to overcome an old problem, habit, or behavior or simply want to grow to a new level of personal achievement (such as improving your academic performance or golf game), hypnosis and hypnotherapy at Modus7 can very possibly help when all else has failed.

Hypnotherapy can also be used as a complementary treatment for some medical and psychological issues.  When medical issues are involved, we can consult with your doctor (with your permission, of course) to make sure that using hypnosis is appropriate for your situation.  Such medical matters may include pain management, stress related illness and any issue that has been labeled psychogenic in origin.

How Many Hypnotherapy Sessions Will I Need?

There is not a single answer to that question.  On average, most clients benefit most from 4 to 5 sessions to achieve effective and long term results for an issue.  Some clients require fewer sessions and some require more. After speaking with you, I will be able to provide an estimate of the number of sessions that will be recommended to make sure you have the most positive outcome.

Is Hypnotherapy Covered By Medical Insurance?

Generally, hypnotherapy services are not covered by medical insurance because hypnotherapist do not diagnose or treat illnesses, disease, or injuries.  Hypnotherapy provides individuals with a recognized and effective method of achieving self-improvement and overcoming unwanted habits and behaviors.  You should consider hypnotherapy as a wise investment that you make in yourself in order to improve the quality (and quite possibly the length) of your own life.

Is Hypnotherapy Guaranteed To Work?

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are powerful tools that can enable you to rid yourself of unwanted habits and destructive behaviors.  Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can also provide strength, and be the catalyst that enables you to make positive changes in your life.  These facts are well established.  But, for hypnosis and hypnotherapy to be effective you must truly want to change and you must be willing to follow simple instructions.  In other words, hypnotherapy is a cooperative effort between you and your Consulting Hypnotist.  For this reason, no hypnotherapist can guarantee a specific outcome just as a medical or mental health professional cannot guarantee that their patients will get well.

That said, hypnosis and hypnotherapy have an outstanding track record of success for clients who truly want to make changes in their lives and are willing to work with their Consulting Hypnotist and follow simple instructions.  Many times, hypnosis and hypnotherapy produce highly positive results when other types of efforts have failed.  If you have questions about this aspect of hypnotherapy, I urge you to talk with your Consulting Hypnotist.

Hypnosis Can Be Your Tool For Success!

The hypnotism services I render to the public are defined as the use of hypnosis to coach positive thinking and the capacity for self-hypnosis. I do not represent my services as any form of medical, behavioral, or mental health care, and despite research to the contrary, I may make no health benefit claims for my services. Modus7 utilizes hypnotism to help clients where I coach or guide to motivate individuals to achieve their goals. Hypnotism for medical or psychological problems requires a written referral from a licensed practitioner of those healing arts. – Edwin Peterson
